Both Sos and The 59 sound were albums that were fucking fantastic and its never to early to start dreaming of the next one.

I hope to see some collabrations with different artists, one of my dreams is that tom gabel and brian fallon make a song together god that would be epic.

Some more acoustic songs

yeah, i was a bit disappointed to see no acoustic songs on '59, though Here's Looking was close enough. i don't think we should start thinking about collabos, there are just too many that would be amazing (Springsteen, Waits, Gabel, Ness, Turner, etc.), and most probly aren't gonna happen.

as for the new album, i predict there is at least one song with piano on it. it seems like that would work well with the direction they're going in, as Springsteen and Waits each had a bunch of songs with piano. i also predict they avoid the reverb on the vocals, and that it does not come out until 2010.

You never know what other talents they might have.
Just because Benny, for example, plays drums in the band doesn't mean he isn't an amateur pianist when he's at home.
You can't always take things at face value in life.

Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters for instance. He was the drummer in Nirvana and now he is a lead guitarist.

just 'cause no one in the band plays piano doesn't mean they can't bring someone in. i'm pretty sure no one in Against Me! plays piano, so how'd they get piano on Sink, Florida Sink? they could just bring in Franz Nicolay like The Loved Ones did. i think the next album could bear some strong similarities to Build and Burn

I really don't mind what they do to be honest.
I'm sure their sound will evolve some more but it seems whatever direction they take with their music they have a flair for it.

I hope they keep their live sound on their recordings though. I hate it when albums become too polished.
The great thing about live music is there will always be a snare hit that is off tune or a chord that is off tune but it adds to the excitement of whole live experience and it's great when bands can translate that on to tape.

I hope so too. I think they will judging from the response of The '59 Sound.

Brian is credited with the piano in the Sink or Swim booklet. I guess it's on the Navesink Banks.

where?

also, nobody in the Souls plays piano, but they've got it on "So Jersey," and nobody in Lucero plays piano, but they've got it on "I Can Get Us Out of Here." just 'cause none of the members play piano doesn't mean they can't have it on the album

Yeah, I don't hear it anywhere on the album, but it's still in the booklet

I'm curious to see what direction they go in next, because 59 sound was so 'themed'...I wonder if they will stay in the theme of that sound or press onward to something more unique?

I'm hoping they include some kind of punky-reggae song on the new album being huge Clash fans and all. Brian also mentions Bob Marley as a hero in an interview. Also reggae/rocksteady/reggae equals soul music
I would be great to hear Brian's soulfull wailing on an reggae inspired Gaslight track.

yeah, he's into bands like The Slackers and The Specials, and the first album he bought was Op Ivy's "Energy". he even had that "Rude Girl" track on the Coffeehouse Sessions, where he sounds exactly like Tim Armstrong. he also said he was looking for a Rancid album when the dude bought him The Clash album, and that Dicky Barrett from the Bosstones was a huge influence on him lyrically, so it's definitely possible

i just feel like they're going into a more rock sound, like Tom Petty or something, though they do sound a lot like the Replacements on '59. i think if he was gonna do a reggae/ska song, he woulda done it by now. he's got a lot of material, but he only had 1 ska song on any of them.

edit: make that 2 ska/reggae songs, including the Walk the Line cover. i'd love to hear him do another one in that style though, for sure

If Gaslight pulls this ska/reggae thing off I really hope it isn't a third wave ska song like Reel Big Fish or something. I demand some wailing soul gospel reggae stuff like Toots and The Maytals.

'Stick 'em up mister' 'Give it to me one time' I can hear Brian sing it already Very Happy

Brian's into The Slackers? Awesome. The Slackers are one of my favourite bands.

I would kill for a Slackers/Gaslight Anthem Tour

I'm thinking more acoustic on the next one. Brian's solo work points more in that simple acoustic direction. But that doesn't mean the rest of the band is left out. Listen to Tin Pan Alley.
Also look at who they are touring with...maybe some of that Good Old War acoustic will rub off on them as well.

In a video interview Benny and Alex R did, they were asked if they'd ever do an acoustic album- Benny said no, Alex asked why not- and Benny's reply was "because we're not an acoustic band". Alex then said "Minus the Bear did it"- and Benny said "Yeah, well, they're way better than us". I think they'll for sure go in a slower even more soulful direction, but, I don't know about acousticish.......just have to wait and see. It'll be sweet and delicious, whatever way it's done.

If the past two albums show anything its that we'll probably get 1-2 acoustic tracks per album

Yeah i don't think they will go totally acoustic, I just see some more acoustic influences thrown in there. Do you think they will ever go in more a Springsteen direction and throw in some xylophone?
