Currently spinning the new album of unreleased material.
It makes me so disheartening that he will never make new music again.

Only know his cover of Hallelujah, but it's one of the most perfect performances I've ever heard. Is he always that good?

Well Jeff has always been a strange one for me.
He is one of my favourite artists of all time but I always seem to forget that. It's weird, I love his music so much yet I always forget how good he is until I starting listening to Grace. I think it's because he had such a short life and career. Seriously check out Grace though, one of the best records of all time. I really think Jeff is one of the most underrated guitarists that there has ever been. His guitar playing makes me feel a certain way, it reminds me of people, of cities, of the past, the future all at once. Smile

Still need to pick up the new disc, Grace is definitely a favorite. The expanded version of Live at Sin- is fantastic too.

This is just incredible too...

Yeah, live at Sin-e is my favourite live album of all time. Could get lost in that tracklisting.

Live at Sin-e really demonstrates how great Jeff was at guitar, especially the Legacy edition.

Totally agree with this. I can't imagine why they thought the original release as a 4 song EP was a good idea when the whole thing is pure gold. I know at the time it made sense with him being unknown and that he hadn't even released Grace yet but still....

What's your take on Sketches? I don't listen to it nearly as much as his other stuff but I still find it very enjoyable. There were a few false starts and scrapped recording sessions to album number two, I wonder what the finished release would have sounded like.

Haven't really dived into yet actually dude. I feel like a lot of his compilation stuff is hard to take outside the context of an album.

I get what you're saying there. I'd probably recommend listening to the 2 discs separately in that case.

Just picked up the new album a couple days ago. I really like the feeling that you're just sitting in on a recording session with him. Some good tracks on there too. I'd have loved a better version of "When the Levee Breaks" to be included. There's one floating around but I haven't found anything better than a 128 mp3 yet.

Obviously it's not Grace but still a good listen. The Sky is a Landfill is one of my favorite songs he ever did.

The Sky is a Landfill is definitely a top notch track. Nightmares by the Sea and Morning Theft are probably the other 2 that I like best from Sketches. Everybody Here Wants You is likely the most recognized and it's good but wouldn't have been my choice for a single. Although I almost never agree with the choice for a lead single so that doesn't mean anything.
