The new album's release date has been officially set for January 18. From Social Distortion's Myspace:
Quote :

'Hard Times And Nursery Rhymes' Out January 18
You read it correctly, Social Distortion have officially announced the release of their new album Hard Times And Nursery Rhymes due out January 18, 2011. The guys don't waste any time getting to business on Hard Times And Nursery Rhymes with the long awaited instrumental intro "Road Zombie," which sets the tone for the next fifty five minutes.

Followed by some new sounds like on "California (Hustle And Flow)," which includes backing gospel singers and greasy solos. A quoted nod to the Stones and sure to give you goose bumps. Rest assured that you'll find some familiarity with songs you've been hearing on the road such as "Diamond In The Rough" and "Bakersfield."

Be sure to keep your ears peeled for the bands first single "Machine Gun Blues" a grinding modern day Bonnie & Clyde outlaw style anthem. "Machine Gun Blues" will be available for download via iTunes on November 9.

Hard Times And Nursery Rhymes Track Listing:

1. Road Zombie
2. California (Hustle And Flow)
3. Gimme The Sweet And Lowdown
4. Diamond In The Rough
5. Machine Gun Blues
6. Bakersfield
7. Far Side Of Nowhere
8. Alone And Forsaken
9. Writing On The Wall
10. Can't Take It With You
11. Still Alive
First thoughts:
-Finally, finally there's a definitive date. I'm sure Brett put some pressure on Mike to finally release that damn album.
-No I Won't Run No More? Damn.
-Still, it's got Still Alive, Can't Take It With You, Bakersfield and Road Zombie. Known for some time, and they're stellar.
-Alone & Forsaken? I don't mind a new version, but don't really need one either. Nothing wrong with the one already released.
-Anyway - as soon as a pre-order is up, they've got my money. I'm genuinely excited about this.

Aw man Lucero played The Devil and Maggie Chascarillo for you guys? Frank Turner and Social D's sets were essentially the same. We got cold feelings as the second to last song in the encore instead, and maybe a few other changes. Lucero mixed things up more, but I'm not gonna be able to recall a full setlist.

Show was really awesome though. Mike Ness is a classy frontman. Invited a ten year old girl who was at the show up on stage with him before one of the songs.

I was thrilled to get "Devil and Maggie," "What Else Would You Have Me Be?" and "Nights Like These" to start that set. Along with "The War" and "That Much Further West," those are my favorite songs of theirs. I know that Turner doesn't usually switch up his sets much for the opening gigs that he does, but I talked to him before the show and he said that they didn't really have anything set in stone for this tour. He said that he'd be playing "at least one song a night from the new EP"), but that that could change on a given night. When I talked to him about twenty minutes before he went on, he hadn't written out a setlist yet.

When Social D. played "Down Here," Mike noted that it was by request from Frank. I wonder if that was just a one time deal if you got "Cold Feelings" in that slot.

Now that you mention it, we just got a 5th encore song, as he did play the "this is for Frank" song.

I think Frank's setlist did a great job for exposing his music to Social D fans. It captured his pissed off englishman vibe really well and I think a lot of people there were impressed. So as much as I'd've loved to here prufrock, I can't really complain.

Agreed, although I think that "Sons of Liberty" would kill with their crowd.

Phenomenal song! Does anyone know how to rip it from the stream? I wouldn't mind buying the single but A. I want it now, and B. I'm still gonna buy the album when it comes out and having both is redundant. Any help here??!!

Holy shit killer song.

I have to admit I was a little worried about this new album but if MGB is any indication, this is gonna rock!

I actually don't think so. You should be good in regards to tickets. Hopefully they tack on the couple east coast dates they missed with Chuck Ragan and The Aggrolites.
