okay, there are 3 things I want to address in this thread:

1. What are some other good folk/punk bands I should check out? I love Defiance, Ohio, TBIAPB, Fake Problems, Rosa, early AM!, and of course Chuck Ragan and Tim Barry, as well as other various acoustic punk artists. I've never really checked out Mischief Brew, Ghost Mice, or Andrew Jackson Jihad, but I've heard good things about all of them. Are they worth checking out? Any other bands I should check out too?

2. I have no idea what #2 was gonna be. Totally blanked

3. Why is Gaslight listed on wikipedia's list of Folk/Punk bands? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Folk_punk

2. mashed potatoes are delicious
3. ....I have absolutely no clue. People are silly.

okay, I remember what #2 was. Josh, you mentioned when doing the mixtape thing that you were gonna send me a copy of your band's cd. so i was wondering if you'd wanna go ahead and do that, or just upload it for me. that would be sick if you did. and yes, mashed potatoes are delicious, especially with gravy and while on the same plate as turkey and stuffing and pumpkin pie

Sundowner?
"Acoustic punk artists" I guess and I defy anyone not to be cheered up by them. Smile

yeah, Sundowner's great. Endless Miles is a great song. he was included in that general "acoustic punk artists" label in the first post. i actually listened to this album before i had ever listened to the Larry Arms

thanks josh, i'll check it out in a minute. and Frank Turner is basically Jesus as far as I'm concerned. i probly shoulda spelled out all the "acoustic punk artists" i mentioned. when i said that i meant:

Chuck Ragan
Tim Barry
Ben Nichols
Joey Cape
Frank Turner
Justin Sane
Jason DeVore
Dan Potthast
Sam Russo (recently)
Sundowner
and a few others that i can't think of

i was basically looking for suggestions of the more full-band type (i.e. Defiance, Ohio, Fake Problems type bands)

yeah, it really is. i wish he woulda done it all acoustic though. some of the songs just sound like Anti-Flag without the drums, but the two acoustic songs are incredible

not sure how punk Ochs was in '68 (before punk), but his lyrics were definately political and satirical. I'd say grab:

* There & Now: Live In Vancouver

One of my all time favorite albums EVER!

"If God were a computer, He would undoubtedly blow up the world. But since that won't happen, we'll have to settle for a political revolution."

P. Ochs (from the vancouver live cd cited above).
