PostSubject: SOS demo CD-R question   Thu Jul 04, 2013 4:27 pm

Hey guys, just had a question about this original CDR the band put out when they were starting out. I just found it in a box I had in storage. I got a copy years ago when it was sent in to a label I worked at back then. My friend was going to put it up on eBay for me. I have not been able to find out much on it aside that it is pretty rare. Anyone know if this baby is worth much? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

It's hard to say the current market value because there are very few known copies but there are definitely collectors who are looking for this. One went on ebay a couple of years ago for about $75 (if memory serves). You should PM user brucesboots before you put it on ebay. I think he's looking for one and if you come to a deal with him you can avoid ebay fees.

EDIT: Check out page 4 of the "my [your] Gaslight Anthem audio collection" thread within the vinyl trading sub-forum. There, you'll see discussion of this CD-R.

Thanks for the info. If I grab it back before he puts it on eBay I will check back here and see if dude wants to grab it. I could not find that thread when I searched for it. May have been the same thread that brought me to this site, though. It had a pic of someones collection and it was in there.

Would have been nice though to find out how much this would have fetched at auction.

I only know of two copies, plus this one, and earlier auction prices probably have a lot to do with the fact that people did not really know about its rarity.

While I do also collect vinyl, this 'mere' CD-R, is actually the first piece of TGA audio ever issued (and they even put the stickers on themselves). As such, for me it ranks above any SOS vinyl and is only beaten by the Coffeehouse Sessions tape (and aren't I lucky I've already got both, bounce...).
