Don't worry, I felt the same way... the only reason I learned what it was about was I had a playlist called Whiskey Rock that had excitement gang and I'da called you on it... I was playing it on random and I heard the line from the song and went holy shit! this whole thing is about The Clash!

Have you heard the Joe Strummer/Johnny Cash split of Redemption Song? That is amazing!

Definitely....you will never find a better version of the song than the Cash/Strummer thing.

A wonderful piece of music!

I have this on vinyl! sounds awesome!

The Clash make me happy in a way that no other band can really do... It's my goal to get as many Clash records as possible. I'm slowly getting there, recently picked up an original pressing of London Calling... BONEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER!

Take it back.

I kid, far be it from me to tell you what to like. But I do think "Streetcore" is one of my favorite albums, ever. And their version of "Minstrel Boy" is great.

Global a go go was their best album. I love that album and I heard it before I heard any of the clashes stuff. They are far from mediocre though but then thats just my opinion.

I am more of a Streetcore fan... I just recently got into Global A Go Go through the Johnny Apple seed reference in I'da Called You Woody.

I really love that line about getting honey and killing bees... that line is epic

be prepared for one of the best experiences of your life. and don't go in expecting a punk album, 'cause it's not. it's pretty amazing though

London Calling, Brand New Cadillac, Rudie Can't Fail, Spanish Bombs, Clampdown, Guns of Brixton, Death or Glory, I'm Not Down, Revolution Rock, and Train In Vain changed my life.

yeah i loved London Calling and Brand New Cadillac the most so far.
i'm on Rudi Can't Fail right now.
i'm glad this isn't straight-up punk or whatever. while i do like that kind of music, this is definitely a sweet spin on that.

i never thought of the songs i'd heard by The Clash as "punk" anyways.
*ends what little respect i had on this board.*

no, i agree. compared to modern punk, the clash isn't punk. the lyrics and attitude definitely were, but the music wasn't really, except for most of their first album. and besides, if you only like punk music, then your taste in music sucks, even if it's good bands

yeah, i think of punk as The Ramones, Sex Pistols, Dead Kennedys, Bad Brains, Black Flag, Minor Threat, etc etc (even though some of that might branch into hardcore or whatever) and songs like London Calling and Should I Stay Or Should I Go never seemed the same to me.

i definitely get what you mean about the lyrics and attitude though. i'm loving the punk feel that's applied to this album even when the songs aren't punk at all.

The Clash were the best live band I've ever seen...London Calling ranks as one of my top three albums of all time and still stands the test of time...Never rated Sandinista...it would have made a good single album...and Cut the Crap was dire...but then again the personnel for the album was more like a Clash tribute band
