They're not whoring us out. Every bundle they offer, every contest the present... we all have a choice not to participate. An example of whoring us out would be taking all of our e-mails they got from the mailing list and selling them off to people for money so we can get a thousand junk e-mails every day.

Gosh Damn dude, quit complaining about this whole thing. Why are you so uptight about this? Geez. They aren't selling out at all. I feel like you are complaining just to complain. You are just one of those people who complain whenever a band goes on a big label. Quit being a Jimmy.

High Five to both of you!!!

The band is doing nothing wrong, the label is doing nothing wrong. They are just trying to make wise business decisions, because this is their career we're talking about here! They have to make money in order to live, just like the rest of us. Nobody is being taken advantage of, the music is still amazing, so why complain? Jeez! Rolling Eyes

Hell yeah! They are people too Chanter. They need to make money. They all have friends, family, girlfriends, wives and need the money to support them. You are just thinking about yourself in this whole situation. If it wasn't for them.......we wouldn't have their awesome music to listen to. They made the music for themselves first, and were kind enough to share it with the entire world. "Handwritten" is suppose to be one of the best albums to come out in a while I hear. If they were sellouts, they would have signed on with a major label, and then completely changed their sound and put out a mediocre album. Sellouts don't put out 10/10 rated albums.

I feel like I'm in a Jimmy vortex. One person says something and we're all wasting our breath trying to change their mind. Whatever. It's a friggin' contest. "Do it or don't." as Henry Rollins would say. "Life doesn't care either way."

reminds me of another terrific nj band.

now the band just made some money
you're the one that bought the cd
you told all your friends they were cool
seems to me that you're the fool
so before you open your mouth
and you say a band has sold out
do you know what they've been through
know what they've gone through
to play in front of you?

Christ, there is some serious levels of stupid and precious little spoilt brat syndrome in this thread, and I'll give you a clue who I think it's from...

It's not from the majority speaking sense.

cheers

I'm gonna run some kind of contest that people can decide whether or not they want to participate in and then run away with all their money!

I got Mae, Here Comes My Man, Muilholland Drive and 45. Then it told me I ran out of interests, but I've no idea why.

I guess it would be because the TGA stumble page has only liked about 40 pages, so you probably went through all of them.

Same as you. It seems like they are only releasing 2 clips everyday, but I'm not 100% sure.

Last one and I swear this is it. Obviously what I said struck people the wrong way and maybe I took it a little to far in calling it selling out. It's a contest and obviously you don't have to participate if you don't want to. After all this is a fan forum and i'm seriously coming off as a "hater" which is something i'm not. I realize Brian and the band have probably sacrificed more through the last 6+ years then I've probably experienced in 24 years of boring suburbia life. Even then they have no guarantee of success, just simply a chance to be successful. Am i one to really complain or should it matter, obviously not.

I guess what I'm saying is I hate to see the business side ruin their fan accessibility. I know Brian wants to be big and who knows maybe they can reach that level. But i've noticed since they switched to Mercury, the "cost" of being a fan has increased quite a bit. Granted I chose to spend the money so no one to blame but myself but between limited concert availability and paying stub hub prices and then Mercury announcing deluxe packages after fans pre-ordered it already is a bit infuriating when these are things fans didn't deal with before mainly because I think Brian did everything he could to prevent it. Yes this is expected when they switch and I understand why they're doing it... it's no longer about the fans as it's now about them reaching their dreams. As much as i'd love for them to be our favorite band that no one has heard of, i'd much rather see them get to where they want.

With all that said no hard feelings, forgive me for my selfish "stupidity" and just get ready for Handwritten and then see whether it lives up to our expectations we had for them.

yeah, you can actually just click them from the "home" page. Don't need anything else. Although it was cool to find some random videos of the band/they liked.

It was my least favorite of the 4 I heard. The chorus kinda bored me
