I've been going through a phase of listening to Augustana again when I recently found a good bootleg of a recent show. I just wondered if any one else likes this band. I think they've produced some great songs over the four albums. One or two of which ahve been on shows like One Tree Hill so a few of you may just have heard 'Boston'. Dan Layus the singer has a great voice and those who don't know this band should definitley check them out. Check out songs such as Sweet and Low, Shot in The Dark, Stars and Boulevards, Boston, I still aint over you.

Those who do know Augustana, what are your thoughts on theband, new album, have you been to see them live etc???

Oh man, I love them. I saw them back in 2005 at a small 150 capacity venue in Pittsburgh just on whim. Wanted something to do on a Friday night and they were playing for $12 and All the Stars and Blvd's was recently the free single of the week on iTunes so I went. Maybe 100-125 people showed up for it.

Ever since I've seen them a handful of times and have collected all of their releases. Saw them with the Counting Crows about 3 years ago and that was pretty cool as the bands shred the statge together. Their latest self-titled is top notch though and I know I'll be listening to that one for years to come. There isn't a bad song on it.

Great band. The last two albums in particular are just fantastic. I like that they're going bigger and rootsier. More up my alley.

Unfortunately they don't seem to come to the UK so chances are I won't get to see them. With the new album not doing as well Im not sure they'd be able to afford the trip over. Its not like they could command expensive ticket prices. I wish they would come though. I like the direction they seem to be headed in. The new unreleased material that theyre paying on tour sounds good too. I just hope this lineup sticks and they dont have more trouble.

They are the favourite band of the keyboard player in my band. In fact some of our songs are loosely based on theirs. I like them too, particularly their more up tempo songs like Meet You There. And Twenty Years is one good song.

Dan Layus is a fantastic singer, I must admit I prefer the up tempo stuff but they've done some great slow stuff too. Shame they don't really acknowledge their first album. Its a little grittier and has less production but some good songs!!

It's crazy how clean Dan sings high notes considering he's a natural baritone. I was flabbergasted when I first heard his speaking voice.

EDIT: Just looked up some setlists of theirs. Do they seriously play 30 songs a night?! That's awesome.

30 songs, that is awesome. The bootleg I have from Uncasville is only 19 songs...
