Slept awful. Will be taking a nap. BAH.

Dude- the end of Toy Story 3 was sad! I was like, am I seriously getting emotional during a cartoon? WTF GO TO HELL. And don't get me started on "Up." Went to that thinking it'd get my mind off things happening at the time but it ended up ticking me off too! ha

I got emotional twice at the end of that film, the furnace scene and the ending proper.

Yea! Someone who remembers Mr. Rogers! Clap I used to watch that show every day when I was little.

Congratulations on the new job! That's fantastic! cheers It's so great when you get a job that you don't mind going to every day. I always tell the kids that I have the best job in the world because I get to hang out with them and have fun instead of being chained to a desk all day. Smile

I would love to work with kids, but I find a male wanting to venture into that kind of job, is looked down upon from the off in this country.

Mr.Rogers is creepy, as the KoRn song about him will testify, and the Ugly Kid Joe references to him.

Boo! Mr. Rogers isn't creepy! Frying Pan He was just a sweet old man in a cardigan sweater.

*Shannon shakes her head furiously trying to get rid of sad Mr. Rogers thoughts*

Yeah, there aren't many guys in the child care/early education industry at all, unless they are camp counselors or coaches. I don't know how it is in N. Ireland, but it seems like in America there aren't even many elementary school teachers that are male. I only had one male teacher before junior high, and he was an old man (although thinking back, he may have only been in his 40s...at the time it seemed like he was 100!). It's a shame really, because working with kids is a blast. It's exhausting and crazy and can be quite stressful, but still, it beats an office job any day, for me at least.

It's sad, as a lot of people look down on a guy in that type as work, as being a paedo, which if anything shows their narrowmindness, but is just a sad reflection of society I guess.

I agree with you 100%. It shouldn't matter if someone is a man or a woman, if they have the heart, the patience, the dedication, and the knowledge to work with children, that's all that should count. I have taught at three different preschools (all very elite which perhaps added to the closemindedness...maybe scratch ) and there was not a single male teacher, lead or assistant, at any school. I have also observed in and been offered positions at a handful of other schools, and I don't remember seeing any men there either. It's so sad that our world hasn't evolved past stereotypes and gender roles by now. Get it together people!
