Very sad news Sad

Think it's safe to say that the Beasties were one of those bands that crossed over many genres, and had many fans that wouldn't normally listen to that style of music.

I'm really taking this news badly for some reason. Just wrote this on my Tumblr so I'll put it here:

Damn. RIP Adam Yauch.

I got to see the Beastie Boys at Nassau a few years ago. When they walked around the arena, I remember yelling in my brain "THAT'S MCA! WOOHOO!" as they passed by my section. I loved MCA's style and looked forward to his lines the most. I used to listen to Hello Nasty a lot during the worst job I ever had, on the way to work and in the office, cus the music & lyrics helped keep my mood a bit lighter.

I've been bitching about NYC a lot lately (it's a love/hate thing with me & NYC), but seriously, it feels like a bit of NYC is missing today. This is really, really sad news.

RIP Adam. One of my favourite bands when I was a kid and that love has never been lost as I grew older. Time to check out some of their amazing videos again. There can't been that many bands who have created as many quality videos as The Beastie Boys?

I was just watching the episode of Futurama where the whole Beastie Boys were on as a guest star spot. Man, never listened to their music, but it is sad anytime someone dies so young and unexpectedly/

I mean I never got into em but I knew who they were everytime their music was played on the radio or in a movie.

This is what I hate. I didn't want to see him go because of it, but it's no less heartbreaking even knowing it was a possibility that he'd leave the planet too soon.

I had also read somewhere he was doing a bit better or at least was in a somewhat stable situation that wasn't threatening.

sorry if this is to soon to bring up / in kinda poor taste, but anyone else hope this is what finally gets Brian to quit smoking? Everything about this sucks, but to me the worst part is it was throat cancer which means if he had just taken better care of himself he might still be here... =(

If anyone is going to make Brian stop smoking via that situation, it would be the mess that Vedders voice has become, and how he struggles to sing so many songs these days.

Anyone that smokes in 2012 knows the risks but does it anyway which I don't get. They've got to want to quit on their own. :\

yeah it's pointless to argue, that's why I never do it. as long as they don't smoke near me.

Agreed. I think that's why so many people fail to quit. They try because they know they should, not because they really want to.

Hasn't Brian said "I'm trying to quit" like 4 times in the last two years? He mentioned it even when he was answering questions on twitter but then a picture surfaced like a week later and he was smokin' up a storm. He even says it messes with his voice, and you can tell he's right. That should be enough motivation.
