I'm determined to go to one of these tapings. I went onto the Letterman site though, and they're not taping on June 28th, the last day they're taping in June is the 27th...so I'm assuming this will be taped then.

Yo, I'll be living in NYC by then! How do I get tickets for this kind of thing? Is there someone I can email or something?

Just an FYI: Letterman has an odd taping schedule. He never works Fridays. That show is usually taped on Monday or Tuesday night.

But, it looks like Letterman isn't taping on Thursday that week either. That means they're going to do two double-tapings that week, which means heaven knows which day Gaslight's going to be there to tape their set to air on Thursday evening. My guess is it won't be Wednesday, since if the crew is taking a long weekend they're going to want to get out of town ASAP after they tape Wednesday's show.

THE GASLIGHT ANTHEM TO PERFORM “LIVE ON LETTERMAN” WEBCAST, WEDNESDAY, JUNE 27, PRESENTED BY AT&T

Performance, Available on CBS.com and VEVO,

To Offer a Preview of the Band’s Upcoming Release, Handwritten

CBS Interactive Music Group’s award-winning concert webcast series, LIVE ON LETTERMAN, presented by AT&T, will showcase punk rock quartet The Gaslight Anthem in a live webcast concert from the world-famous Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City, available on CBS.com and VEVO, Wednesday, June 27 (9:00 PM, ET/6:00 PM, PT).

The Gaslight Anthem will play songs from their last three albums, as well as from their latest, Handwritten, which will be released Tuesday, July 24 through Mercury Records. The LIVE ON LETTERMAN franchise, which has surpassed 110 million views to date on CBS.com and VEVO, has hosted some of the most established bands and musicians across the globe in an intimate and dynamic setting for worldwide followers to enjoy.

Fans can watch The Gaslight Anthem’s webcast live or on-demand at http://www.cbs.com/late_night/liveonletterman/. Additionally, the show is available live and on-demand through CBS properties, broadcast on select CBS RADIO stations, viewable live on CBS’s JumboTron in Times Square, as well as via a live audio stream on Radio.com’s mobile applications. The webcasts are also offered on VEVO, the world’s leading all-premium music video and entertainment platform, through VEVO’s website and most mobile apps, with on-demand performances available across the entire VEVO platform including VEVO.com, mobile and connected devices and syndication partners.

The Gaslight Anthem is led by Brian Fallon (vocals/guitar), along with Alex Rosamilia (guitar/backing vocals), Alex Levine (bass/backing vocals) and Benny Horowitz (drums/percussion). The band formed in New Brunswick, N.J. in 2006. Since then, The Gaslight Anthem swiftly rose to fame and critical acclaim, especially in the underground punk scene, as a result of the release of three highly praised albums: Sink or Swim (2007), The ’59 Sound (2008) and, most recently, American Slang (2010). On June 24, the band will release Handwritten, featuring the lead single “45.” The album, which took the band to Nashville to record and connect with their rock roots, is produced by famed producer Brendan O’Brien, who has worked with Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam and AC/DC. The Gaslight Anthem’s resulting major label debut is an auditory letter written from the band to their passionate fans.

The Gaslight Anthem’s LIVE ON LETTERMAN webcast will follow the taping of their performance on the LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN, which will be broadcast the following evening, Thursday, June 28 (11:35 PM-12:37 AM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

I think when the Foos did this, it was a full set...about 2 hours long.

Ok, but looking through some links, other bands have done 1hr+ sets...no reason why we can't expect a decent length of a set.

Yeah, a lot of bands get a good amount of time for the Live On Letterman thing. A good example would be Beady Eye. They played 10 songs and their lone album reached only 31 on the Billboard charts. American Slang got to 16 and I think most would assume (or at least hope) Handwritten will do even better than that.

I'll be most interested to see if he invites them over to the couch for a chat after they play for the show. That'll be the real test...
