She was my favorite as well. I like Female vocal singers who sing like Janis, not the bubblegum nightmare that is modern female artists. I am fine here. it started snowing again, and laying down pretty heavy.

YES! Janis was the best. Have you read the biography "Love, Janis" written by her sister? It's fantastic. My favorite female singers are the ones with unique, dynamic voices. Janis, Stevie Nicks, Grace Slick, Chrissie Hynde.

Edit: I WANT SNOW! Send some to VA!

I didn't even know there was a biography...Might have to pick that up next time I order books. I like the female singers that have the same vocal styling of Janus, Not like Gaga or Adelle. I like the female vocalists who throw power behind their voice, and embrace the gravel in their voice. Okay, There are some female country singers who Sound a little sweeter than I usually like, but they are not that bad.

I hate Lady Gaga. I can't stand her music. Mad Adele has a nice voice and some good songs, but I only know a few. There's just something about the classic rock singers that make them better. And gravel is good in any rockstar voice, male or female. A raw, gritty quality in a singer's voice always makes them stand out to me.

Yep. I think they stand out, because you know they are giving it their all, usually without help of autotune.

Exactly. It's just natural talent and passion, nothing manufactured about it. Like when Janis sings the line Come on and take it! in "Piece of My Heart", you can feel her pain and anger. It's just incredible. No one can sing that song like her.

I try to put a bit of That Gravelly style in my voice as well when singing ...nothing like Tom waits, But sorta like what Brian and Bruce have, not a smooth voice, but still one so powerfull and real you cannot help but notice it.

That's the best quality to have in your voice. From the recordings you have posted, it seems like you naturally have that gravelly sound, so it's good that you play it up. What Gaslight song are you thinking of covering next?

Excellent choice! The Diamond Church Street Choir has such a great feel to it. My sister and I were listening to American Slang the other day and she said she loves The Jackknives song. She never calls any of TGA songs by their right names. EVER! It drives me absolutely insane.

I actually had a productive morning for a change! I did some editing and wrote about half a chapter in my work-in-progress and I feel so creative today! Why do I have to work this afternoon? Why?!

What's everybody up to?

Haha, yeah, they should be fine. They both have gymnastics this evening which they love, so they'll be excited.

Good luck on your test! I'm sure you'll do great. Very Happy

COLD COLD COLD. But some exciting news coming up. In Holland they are probably going to ride the 'eleven cities cross'. It's a race of 125 miles across the local waters. These waters connect the eleven cities in this race. It's on iceskates, the last time the ice was thick enough is allready 25 years ago. Let's hope they do it!

For the rest, i have my afternoon now free, but i need to study Surprised

Being half a wake I swear I thought you were talking about Shaun for a second Razz
