I'd like an American slag. I've heard they want the whole world.

Er yeah, I was kidding about the electropop. Seeing as they've been channelling Dylan and The Who recently, and the southern soul country feel of Elsie, I'm expecting something with plenty of classic 70s leanings. Which could go either way . . .

Haha, yeah, I knew you were kidding aout the electropop thing. That's why I used the Wink emoticon. Brian would never do that to us! Razz

Just hope it arrives soon - anyone got an idea over release date? In a way I reckon there is no way TGA can now live up to expectations as they set the bar so f-in high!

Cheers for that mate.

Personally, I hate September as a release date but that's historical to do with an ex-girlfriend!

We've all got those small things that remind us of a painful memory.

A late May release date would be amazing! Right as the start of summer.

That would be so perfect, but I doubt that will happen. I just hope we don't have to wait until the fall!

Here's hoping for a summer release - don't think I can handle what could be an intense record going into the winter!

I'm really hoping they manage to get it out for July latest. They do seem to work very quickly and with Ian involved in the recording process hopefully that will help to speed things up as well. Elsie was recorded in only 17 days and look how amazing that turned out to be.

I'm pretty sure that Brian stated it will be released in autumn....

As far as expectations go I don't have any, except that it will be the best album of 2012 Smile

Not necessarily an expectation as much as a wish, but I hope that the next album has the feel of some of Brian's old solo work that used to be on his Myspace. But those are more THC songs than TGA songs.

Other than that, I have to agree with a previous post, American Slang was great, but a few of the songs were somewhat sterilized when they hit post-production. Not enough punch. Fell victim to the loudness wars in an attempt to be more radio-freindly, I think, since I heard American Slang on the radio quite often after release.

i'm trying to hold out on having expectations, but considering my fave gaslight records go in order of release, you could guess what sounds i am hoping they go towards. i feel like the last album was promoted as them "coming into their own sound" whereas, to me, it sound like the more "generic" rock album of all their albums. although there were still great songs! the worst of gaslight is still better than most!

One of the things that I love about all of the TGA records, is the feeling of a band thats actually playing together. To many records now a days seem overproduced with layers and layers which totally kills the feeling and nerve. I just hope that spirit they always had before is not lost with a new producer. But I dont think that will happen, totally psyched about it!

i think they're gonna make a record that they want to make. sorry if that sounds like a kind of dick way of saying it, but seriously. they're not going to throw away a fan base, but it definitely will be different in the way the other albums have been different. having met the guys a handful of times, I trust them enough.

Well, I know this may sound cliche, but I have Great Expectations...the Greatest Expectations! Smile

But, I loved how in the Itunes session, Brian thanked his fans and said that whatever they do, they want it to be something their fans love...or something to that effect.

And what's this about Ian joining the band as third guitarist?? Wow, I am so out of the loop...I almost feel ashamed to say I'm a huge fan. Crying or Very sad

I have high, if tempered, expectations. Regardless of what the album sounds like, there is no question in my mind that they're at the point in their development as a band that they need to take the next step. I think 'The '59 Sound' is a great album, 'American Slang' a nice album, if a little bit of a treading water effort, and 'Elsie' (which I know technically is not a Gaslight project) did some interesting things. I will be disappointed if the album is a continuation of the water tread from 'American Slang.' TGA has it in them to make a Great capital 'g' record, but the only way to do that is if they push forward and don't rest on their already established sound/songwriting. Let me be clear, I don't think their established sound is bad by any means. I love the band's output thus far. But if they're just doing 'The '59 Sound Part III,' it's going to be disappointing. I'll listen to it, I'll enjoy it, but it will be a letdown if there's no forward push.

One thing I think we'll see is more big guitar solos, which they haven't really bothered much with in the past. Biloxi Parish seems to suggest that they'll be there.

I'm sure it will be great no matter what, but I hope it has a little harder, more aggressive edge. I really love their cover of Baba O'Riley and think it would be awesome if they put that power behind their own songs. Can't wait for this album. Hope it comes out this summer; the fall is too far away.

Bumping this so the other thread stops getting filled.

Anyone dig into the picture of the lyrics that were posted and find anything visible?
