PostSubject: Bright Eyes/ Conor Oberst   Sat Nov 19, 2011 11:56 pm

I just did a search and discovered that there isn't a thread for Conor on here. Unacceptable! There has to be few other fans here, right? I've been a pretty devoted follower of his for years. Bright Eyes, The Mystic Valley Band, Monsters of Folk, and all the other stuff in between, it's all great.
Give him a listen!

I'm not THAT much into Bright Eyes, but some of their songs are great.

My favorite is An attempt to tip the scales and The calendar hung itself.

So, which is everyone's favorite Conor album?

My top three would probably be:
I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning
Conor Oberst
Cassadaga

Although Fever and Mirrors will always hold a special place in my heart.

So hard to choose!

-Lifted
-Conor Oberst
-Fevers and Mirrors

But man, I really love them all. Are you a fan of The People's Key? I didn't like it at first, but now I love it to death. Beginner's Mind is just lovely.

Unlike most critics, I love it. It's great to hear Conor sing pop songs with sing along choruses. And I think that 'Ladder Song' is one of the most beautiful songs he has ever written.

Yeah, that song kills me. "I'm tired of traitors always changing sides. They were friends of mine." Love it.

I'm really hoping they decide to do another album, even though they said The People's Key was the last one.

Haha, Marcus is a little bit off.

It's Olof, but everyone calls me Olle. Don't know how well that works in English though.

Yeah, me too. I'm so mad that I didn't go to what was probably their last show ever in Sweden.

Ive found that IWATM and The Story is in the soil are the two best albums. Others that Ive heard haven't really done it for me. I think Bright Eyes are the kind of band that you need to read the lyric book through with the song to gain more appreciation because otherwise they can be quite hard going.

I've been meaning to do that since seeing him at Shaky Knees this weekend! I haven't been in a Conor phase for awhile but I think I might be getting into one now... how would you describe the general tone of the album?
