What, no AC/DC thread? There really ought to be one, not least given that Brian told Kerrang! in March last year, when talking about the new album: "We also watched AC/DC's Live At Donington DVD and that was pretty inspirational too, in terms of technique. You could see how good they were as players."

So, I am currently experiencing a kind of AC/DC mania. I only ever used to have one album, Powerage, which I still think is the perfect rock album, and I may have taped one or two other records from friends (this is way back when). Anyway, last summer I bought 8 albums I didn't have, mainly the earlier ones and their latest, and last week I bought the remaining 8 albums!

I've still got two to listen to, but out of the newer ones, the revelation was Ballbreaker. That said, none of the albums suck (I has expected a few duds). I just love the way each instrument plays such a defined part in the conversation that goes on between them and the vocals, and how the blues is alive and well in all AC/DC's music.

"Fingers Finney, Diamond Jim
Ya' better get ready ready, look out, I'm comin' in
So, spin that wheel, cut that pack
And roll those loaded dice
Bring on the dancing girls
And put the champaign on ice."

Yeh I would recommend Powerage too, or a best of.

Listening to my dad's copies of Back in Black and Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap (along with Midnight Oil albums, which everyone should also listen to. Start with Blue Sky Mining) kind of got me into rock music as a kid. Finally saw them live last year, lots of images of breasts and gratuitous guitar solos which was to be expected but I had fun.

yes, start with the Powerage album

as a taster, here's 'Sin City' - listen right through, or you'll miss out on the variety

and for good measure, here's 'Whole Lotta Rosie', from Let There Be Rock
