Well...I hope that my friend will be at an open mic, I kind of plan to do about 3 or 4 gaslight songs, along with some Dylan, and Springsteen. Heck I might even throw in some CCR.

Any requests? Well obviously anything Gaslight or THC would be great Razz - But I'm not one for asking/telling folks what to do, you can sing whatever you like, I'm sure it'll be awesome Smile

So it's not The Gaslight Anthem related but I recorded a cover of one of my favorite songs.

Hey Harbortown would you mind telling me what you use in terms of mics and recording gear? I just have a cheap USB mic and I was wanting to maybe buy some nicer stuff soon.

That was awesome, btw. Hadn't heard the song before but now you've inspired me to check out the artist.

Well, I use Garageband on my Macbook Pro 13", and my microphone is a Samson Meteor USB Mic. It's like 99 bucks and pretty decent. I also use a standard pop filter. My guitar is a Taylor Big Baby.

I'd like a better microphone but for the price, I think mine is decent!

You should definitely listen to more Gregory Alan Isakov, get a hold of This Empty Northern Hemisphere, perfect night time album. Even better than Elsie.

Hmm that's about the price of my mic but yours sounds better. Maybe you just play better though. I'm kind of looking for a pair of two mics where I can put one on guitar and one on vox cause my performances are always better live than when tracked separately.

I'll get that album too.

Yeah I do everything separately, man. Also I'm really cautious with sound levels, how hard I play, how I position everything etc. Also I put a certain amount of tweaking into everything, for example I add some bass to the vocals for that extra warm tone.

when you say you add bass to the vocals, do you mean you use EQ to turn up the bass in your voice?

Yeah that's right. It also adds a little presence to it.

Oh, very nice. I took two classes in sound engineering in high school but I've forgotten everything about it so I'm a happy amateur that goes on by pure means of experimentation and intuition.
