In the true spirit of procrastination I thought I would take a stab at the lyrics. This is what I got:

my queen of the bronx,
blue eyes and spitfire,
i saw you walking back and forth,
about another boy,
thinking that you may wanna leave,

so give me the fevers that just wont break,
and give me the children you dont wanna raise,
and tell me about the cool, he sings you in those songs,
if its better than my love, then bring it on

and take it back out to the streets, where you know you used to be
for the romeos up town,
if i bring you down, and youre tired of those vows,
and youre really walking out,

then give me the fevers that just wont break,
and give me the children you dont wanna raise,
and tell me about the cool, he sings you in those songs,
if its better than my love, baby bring it on
oh bring it on

stop clicking your red heels and wishing for home,
im hearing that he tells you he can read your palms,
is he better than my love, is he better than my love

so i found the letters with the reasons to things,
you've been feeling that, he says they'll never know
and you say, the night just got too cold
well everybody's cold
who's going to keep my baby warm (who's gonna keep my baby warm)
when everybody goes

so give me the fevers that just won't break,
and give me the children you don't wanna raise,
and tell me about the cool, he sings you in those songs,
if it's better than my love

well then wait a minue, wait a minute (wasn't i good to you)
wait a minute, wait a minute (wasn't i good to you)
wait a minute, wait a minute (you don't know what's good for you)

then give me the fevers that just won't break,
and give me the children you don't wanna raise,
and tell me about the cool, he sings you in those songs,
you've been my baby for so long,
come on bring it on,
OHOH bring it on

stop clicking your red heels and wishing for home,
i'm hearing that he tells you he can read your palms,
if it's better than my love,
if he's better than my love,
if it's better than my love,
then go on and take it all

let me know how accurate y'all think I got it...
now back to studying for midterms

Great job on the lyrics. The only difference I hear is that I think it's "If he's better than my love" all three times in the last chorus.

Pretty close to what I came up with. Just a couple of small differences that I'm hearing.

Little Eden wrote:

im hearing that he tells you he can read your poems,

I'm not sold on this being poems, it just doesn't sound right. I'm leaning towards "read your palms".

Little Eden wrote:

well then wait a minue, wait a minute (is he now good to you)

This sounds more like "wait a minute, wait a minute (wasn't I good to you?)" to me.

I like the reading palms translation. Reading somebody's poems isn't too interesting. But it seems like the girl he's singing about is being tempted by another man and him being able to read her palms might add to his intrigue. So that sounds good to me.

And I'll listen again for the "wasn't I good to you"

I have to say, I do not like this song.It sounds almost exactley like 'American Slang'. If the rest of the album is like this im going to be PISSED.
