it's kinda weird how this guy writes so many damn good songs and they're pretty close to some stuff you hear on country radio, yet i've never heard a song of his on there.

yes i am a fan and I agree he's a great songwriter too. His voice is very soothing in an 'Elliott smith' kinda way. i'm always surprised how many people have no idea who he is, LOL. I think more people know his wife, Mandy Moore, than him. Poor guy. What do you think of his new album? Personally I don't like many of the songs on it, but I love the first single 'lucky now' and his older song 'come pick me up' the most.

I love Ryan Adams and yeah I do find it weird that not many people know of him considering how many albums he has released. I like the new album a lot, its return to his early day stuff.

I saw him on Oct 17th, 2011. I went down to Santa Cruz to the Rio Theatre.
Jason Isbell opened up and played 8 songs and then Ryan played for 2.5hours. I think total of 23 songs with just him, his guitar and harmonica. He did play two songs on the piano including a wonderful stripped down version of 'New York, New York.'

Recently bought Ashes and Fire and after a few listens its really grown on me. Its my first Ryan Adams album so I intend to look at other ones too now. I especially love the song Lucky Now and Ive done my own cover of it. I hope you like it.

I've always avoided listening to Ryan Adams because he has soooo many albums I didn't even know where to begin. But my brother's a big fan and he played Ashes and Fire for me a couple times a few weeks ago and I really liked it, and got my own copy the other day. Nothing better than getting into new music.

Ashes and Fire has been excelent. It is also crazy how much unreleased material he has, and it is all quite solid. I think he is working on something like Ashes and Fire part 2 right now. He is also going to release a shelved album called "Blackhole'' sometime in the near future, and also some live compilation from these last solo acoustic tours he had.

Just realised how great of a song La Cienega Just Smiled. Honestly I've listened to Gold over and over again for years but never appreciated how awesome this song was until now.

One of my all time favourites. Trying to collect all the good music he has ever written on vinyl which is kinda hard. Has anyone read the book he put out? It's more like a collection of poems and stuff he wrote than a book actually.

Me too OldGospelChoir - just listening to Ashes and Fire today. Whiskeytown at the Cat's Cradle New Year's Eve 2000 is my favorite show ever. They played Faithless Street in it's entirety, took a break, came back after midnight and played Stranger's Almanac. There are boots of it floating around.

Bump! What do I listen to by Ryan Adams? He seems to be pretty great. He's so prolific it's tough to know where to start. I love Lucky Now, Come Pick Me Up, Oh My Sweet Carolina, The End. What's the best stuff??

Lucky now and Oh My Sweet Carolina are my two faves although (to echo some other posts) Easy Tiger is a great album especially if you get all 21 songs off i tunes. Ashes and Fire and Gold are my other two faves. If you really want to go deeper check out a few of the shows from the life after deaf collection. Just ryan and his guitar or piano. Amazing mate! Enjoy
