My last few other bands haven't been too popular...not sure about this lot. Obviously known for being Jack Whites 2nd band, after White Stripes of course.

I thought I loved the first album, but then Consolers of the Lonely came out and was blown away, the can hardly even listen to the first album now.

Carolina Drama is probably my favourite song ever, it's just pretty epic.

Many Shades of Black and Rich Kid Blues are both extraordinary songs too...always forget how much I love this band until I listen to them again.

Love the Raconteurs even more than The White Stripes, although that's not always a popular opinion. But yeah, they are great. Hope Jack gets back to them, as I think they're his best band.

Certainly better than Icky Thump and Elephant, not quite sure about the early albums.

Consolers of The Lonely certainly my top 5/6 albums of the decade.

Can't beat a bit of early White Stripes though.

Personally "Icky Thump" is my favorite White Stripes album although seemingly nobody agrees with me there either.

I'm more of a Raconteurs person as well. Not that I don't like the Stripes, but this project's more my style. And Consolers of the Lonely is incredible, ain't it? It's one of the few albums I love through and through. It's retro yet original, rocks the house, and is bluesy, all at the same time!

If I had to pick a fave song, I'd go with You Don't Understand Me. That piano/guitar interplay is a great change of pace on the album and just sinks into your bones.

I had posted about them before, but anyone else like The Dead Weather's album?

I tried the Dead Weather but wasn't a huge fan, admittedly only listend to a couple of songs a few times but didn't connect with me.

I was kinda hoping it did because they played in my city but just could get into them.

Consolers of the Lonely is a sick album. There are a handful of standout tracks. And I will agree that Carolina Drama is amazing. They take a bunch of different styles and blend them well. Jack White's guitar playing also helps.

I agree with a lot of what has been said:

1. Icky Thump is probably my favourite White Stripes album
2. The Raconteurs are Jack White's best band
3. I hope he does another White Stripes album then does a 3rd Raconteurs album.

If you get a chance, I recommend listening to the whole album while driving or something. It creates a strange rock ambiance that really comes together as a whole album. When I first heard some of the songs by themselves, I wasn't impressed either and almost wrote it off. But when I gave the whole album a listen, my opinion changed.

I think Jack White is the man no matter what he's doing.

My feelings on a couple of the topics that have been addressed:

1) The Raconteurs are Jack White's best band
2) It wouldn't break my heart if there was never another White Stripes record
3) It would break my heart if there was never another Raconteurs record
4) Brendan Benson is underrated

I agree except I love the White Stripes equally...so yes it would break my heart if there was never another Stripes record. Really though, I just want to see the White Stripes live. The same can be said for the Raconteurs.

Personally I think Jack White should just tour with himself and have his bands open for each other.

Consolers of the Lonely was my favorite album of 2008 until I discovered the '59 Sound Smile
