Since AFI has a new album coming out and I haven't seen a post. What do you all think of this band?

Personally, I loved Black Sails, The Art of Drowning, and Sing the Sorrow.

I liked the earlier stuff as well..when they sounded more punk.

and somewhat appreciate DCU for what it is (I had to listen to it alot to like it) except for that stupid telephone dial in Summer Shudder... and realizing how silly
Miss Murder is...and that dumb prelude.

I was hoping the new album would see them return to their earlier sound
...but damn the album title is pretty weak, the album cover is horrible and Medicate sounds lame...

but I'll probably end up picking it up 'cause I'm curious with what they came up with.

Here are some links that are samples for their first single medicate:

I like their earlier stuff like 'Very Proud of Ya' and ''Answer that and stay Fashionable'.

I don't really like their newer stuff and more than likely won't pick this up.

At the end of the day, these guys changed big time. They were a good band and I'm pretty happy with what they put out in the past.

Listened to the full version of Medicate. It's actually not as bad as I thought, very slick and catchy but not lyrically as strong as there earlier work.

Their new album will likely be a disappointment to anyone who's been an AFI fan for more than 4 years. Tis a shame i guess, but hopefully a few hidden gems will be enough to give the album a chance.
Fingers crossed though... i hope they surprise

I just listened to Fainting Spell, it's supposed to be a b-side a b-side to DCU.

It sounds like something you'd find STS somewhat Nine inch nail-ish...

It starts off acoustically and then the guitars and screaming kick in.

Here's a link to the download link you need to give your email for them to send you a link:

I think it makes one wonder what DCU would have been if more of the songs were like this.
