Holy shit check out their 2009 album. Prisoner, Clashrock11 and kieran posted about them in the Dream Tour Lineup thread. I just checked out Dear Landlord. You need that album.

What's with the No Idea bias? Do they have the same sound throughout their label? I've never paid much attention to No Idea. Fill me in.

No idea is a good label. There are some very good bands but there is a vast number of bands they have released that in my opinion all sound very samey. The general formulae seems to be gruff in the style of Hot Water Music/Leatherface.

If Off With Their Heads and Blink-182 had a baby it would be Dear Landlord. Not that that's a bad thing at all...

They don't really sound like Blink 182 to be honest. They draw from the tradition of gruff punk bands like Jawbreaker and Crimpshine mixed with Screeching Weasel type poppunk. They kinda sound like Off With Their Heads ofcourse, especially since they share a guitarist.
I got to admit though they have a song called Heartbroken Handshakes and that song kinda sounds more like a Blink 182 song.

That being said great album, one of my faves from 2009.

I hear a lot of the same progressions and rhythms of songs as Blink-182. The drumming is pretty similar too in my opinion.

haha almost every poppunkband uses those chord progressions.

I don't know anything about drumming though, so you're probably right about that one

also if you guys like this band you should check out:

Rivethead (two members of Dear Landlord used to play in that band) http://www.myspace.com/rivetheadpunk

Banner Pilot (two members of Rivethead plays in that band) http://www.myspace.com/bannerpilot

The Copyrights (two members of Dear Landlord play in the Copyrights) http://www.myspace.com/thecopyrights

Off With Their Heads (member from Dear Landlord, members from Rivethead and Banner Pilot) http://www.myspace.com/offwiththeirheads

a very confusing band tree
