The Dead Weather is the newest band Jack White's in. Alison Mosshart is on vocals with Dean Fertita on guitar and Jack Lawrence on bass. Jack White's actually playing drums in this band. I love the White Stripes and The Raconteurs are just far and away awesome, but when I heard one of The Dead Weather's singles this past spring, I didn't think much of it. The full debut album, Horehounds, comes out in a few days. The whole thing is up on NPR's site streaming:

I'm listening to it right now, and it's actually really good! Not sure what changed since May, but I'm surprised. Good stuff!

Fair enough, different strokes for different folks. I hold Jack White as one of the greatest musicians of the past 20 years... but 's all good Smile

White Stripes are okay but I really love the Raconteurs...putting Jack White together with some talented musicians in a regular band setting really works, and Brendan Benson brings his poppier aspects into the band as well.

As for the Dead Weather, I've heard the singles and wasn't really impressed.

Same here, but that's what surprised me. I love the album! Give it a listen, you might change your mind.
