These guys are truly amazing. Check out the song "Fake" if you want more! Wow - I can't get enough of them.

The lead singer is the same guy from the movie "Once"

if you haven't seen Once go rent it today, make sure you watch it with the subtitles. Truly a great flick!

Once was such a good movie. I don't know The Frames, I only know The Swell Season. They write some of the saddest tunes though.

I'm new here and digging up old threads.

The Frames are one of my absolute favorite bands. I've been following them for years. It is strange all the publicity they've gained with Once (well, Glen anyway) and things have really changed. I still get excited when someone's heard of them.

I saw Glen and Ingrid (is that her name?) play as The Swell Season a few years back. Amazing show!

lol Marketa, actually. Were you at any of the Colorado shows by chance? Usually the whole band is there and they do a couple Frames songs. It is pretty much The Frames + Marketa these days.

You live in Colorado, like The Frames, and are named Tiff (I'm guessing). We should hang out if we're not the same person. Wink

I was at both shows. Smile I was front and center for the CSprings show but I took pictures for the Denver show, so I was on the sidelines after the first three songs.

Same place, same time. RIght on. I wish I'd joined with the board before the shows. I was at both going damnit I wish I knew some of these people. I brought people who are new to TGA and are now fans, but I knew it'd been so much more fun if I'd had someone who knew what the heck. Razz

PS:

BOOO at the ATM machine being down @ The Gothic. I had to close my tab at the bar at one point so I could go and try 4 times before it finally dispensed money for merch [I'd bought more than I thought I would.] The people behind me couldn't get it to work then. Sucked and was afraid I'd have to jet down the street to find an ATM.

Im seein' these guys in next week in one of the best venues in dublin' for em (Whelans).

Afaik they should be doing american shows soon.

Also, I know this is sort of a necro but i didnt wanna create another thread since theres this here already.

I've been a huge fan of these guys for so many god damn years.

A few of my favourite songs by them are these :

Perfect opening line
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6r807-uARYQ

Rent day blues
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KZ8eb6-Kbg&feature=related

Dance the devil back into his hole.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cpAc7vnMfk&feature=related

Absolutely amazing songs, if your only getting into them now i'd definitely suggest getting Dance the devil... its one of my favorite albums of all time. Just from the start with perfect opening line right through to dance the devil its a great listen leaves me relaxed and happy.

Sorry for bumping an old thread, just watching some Glen Hansard bootlegs, so much love for the guy, can't wait for the solo album in June, and hopefully some solo gigs in Ireland (outside of Electric Picnic) Certainly someone that I would urge you all to check out.

One of my alltime favourite bands! Glen Hansard reminds kinda of Brian Fallon in the way that hes constantly working on something new, so creative and consistent.

Would recommend the live album Setlist to anyone, aboslutley amazing album, especially the song 'What Happens When The Heart Just Stops', jaw droppingly good. Glens stuff with Marketa Irglova is brilliant too, his solo stuff is bound to be great, such is his talent.

Also on the topic of The Frames/Glen Hansard, are there any Mic Christopher fans about here? Another genuis

Was at the Mic Christopher tribute gig a few months back. Four and a half hour gig...my back was in pieces by the end of it, but what a night, still working on the dvd of it, but it was an amazing night. Hey Day has to be one of the finest songs ever, and to see it with Mic's friend and family that night, was an honour.

No way! Wanted to go to that so badly but had no funds Sad I've seen clips of the first tribute concert to him (launch of Skylarkin) at it seemed amazing!

Heyday is just something else, heartbreaking song whenever Glen sings it solo. Mic's album 'Skylarkin'' is one of the best Irish albums out there, great stuff.

That whole Dublin scene at the time (Frames, Mic, Lisa Hannigan, Paddy Casey, Damien Rice.etc.) was just amazing.

New tracks from Glens upcoming solo album

Glen Hansard - Love Don't Keep Me Waiting Video

Glen Hansard - Philander Video

Really not sure what I make of this stuff, granted, it's only a two songs, but I'm not feeling anything yet from it, but as always...I'm sure it will be fantastic live, which is where I think the man truly excels.

The setlist I got from Glen on Saturday night, wish I had saw all the songs from this, but thanks to a really rude crowd, we only got 5 songs. Which is a shame.

Such a shame that people were dicks. I'm really looking forward to seeing Glen and the Frames in September. As much as I'd love to see a true solo show someday, hard to complain about the Frames as his "backing" band.

Make sure to hang about the lobby before the gig, incase Glen pops out to busk!

Also, make sure to check this site out.

Where was the gig? Why did you only get to see 5songs, did not bother with an encore or something and just walk off?
