PostSubject: The Coffeehouse Sessions   Wed Oct 21, 2009 9:24 pm

Ok folks, there are a few bits of exciting news to announce:

1. I got the tapes from TheMeanLittleMan!
2. As amazing as you thought they were going to be... they are cooler!

TMLM did up an amazing Letter of authenticity, this was already an amazing piece of TGA history, but now it is really classy.

So,
let me be the first to say, Thank you Chris. Thank you for supporting
independent music. Thank you for helping Brian start off his musical
career. And thank you for being so unselfish and sharing the tapes with
us. Thanks.

With that being said, there are only 15 of
these tapes, me and the other admins are working up a way of
distributing them. I will tell you that we are trying to give them out
to those that are not just super fans, but people who have also done
something to help out other fans.

So far here is the list and with my reasoning behind it:

Kropo (he started the forum back when it was bigproforum)
Geezfools (he runs http://18milesaminute.wordpress.com/ )
e7c (me)
Stalls_Standing (the british admin)
JoshRaymond (the highest poster)
JukeboxRomeo (great work with the Tabs)
Vibes (the new admin, actually owns the domain)
steady now steady now (he runs that other TGA record site)
Liveit (full back piece TGA Tattoo)
Tobi (gets all the best audio rips)

That is just 10, I will give one to Brian when I see him tomorrow so we will still have 4 left.

We will have a contest that is just for the forum members
One will go up to raise money for Charity
One will be given away as part of my non-profit organization
And one left in case it becomes painfully obvious that I left someone out

I like the way you divided them out, seems like a fair way to do it and congrats for those who got them.

I'm not worthy! Have we decided what we would do with the others?

Awesome...it seems fair the way you've deivided the tapes up amongst the members, wish I had done something of note now though!

I don't trust the PM system here, so here is the letter I pm'd everyone on the list:

Congratulations you have been selected to receive one of the
Coffeehouse Sessions tape! I picked everyone on this list because they
have done something extremely special in showing there love for The
Gaslight Anthem and have helped to spread the word about this great
band. So, thank you for helping out with this forum, being the
definitive expert on tabs or vinyl, rocking the best TGA tattoo out
there or just being a great user/person.

That being said, I do need your address in order to send the tapes out.

One other thing, these tapes are what I consider to be the epitome of
TGA collecting (and this is coming from the guy that has the TP of
SOS!), I am quite aware that they could make a lot of money on eBay,
but please don't sell them! We got the tapes for free from The Little
Mean Man aka Chris, he could have sold these and made a small
fortune... but he didn't. So I ask that you do not sell these tapes
either. You have been selected as someone deserving of this awesome
piece of nostalgia, I don't want to see these tapes ending up in the
hands of undeserving people (it irritates me to no end that the world's
greatest art is all in private collections that only rich people get to
see). The tapes are numbered 1-15 (all numbers will be given away at
random, except number 1, which will be used to raise money for charity)
and if for some reason you do feel the need to part with your tape,
please tell me who you passed it on to, we are going to try and keep a
list of where the tapes are.

So once again, thanks for being a fan of such an amazing band, thanks
for helping spread the word about them and thanks for your help here at
the Dime Store Saints. I will be sending the tapes out as soon as I
get your address.

Scott "e7c" Cole

Do I not qualify as 'a great user/person'?

I think that last tape should go to Tomaldo,
I haven't been here that long but I recognize Tomaldo as one of the "great users", anybody agrees?

I agree also but then there's 5/6 other members like Tomaldo who could equally be given the tapes.

I'm certainly not one of them although if more were available certainly Tomaldo and more than a few others would easily have enough of a reason to take them up.

I'll take any opportunity though and a competition/raffle seems fair to me if not automatically given to more deserving members.

Thanks guys- I dont want it to seem like I'm pleading, although it probably does but this band has changed my life. I know others would claim that though but maybe then you could appreciate how much a tape would mean to me!

Will these tapes be converted to digital so those who don't get one can at least hear the songs?

In the other thread, Chris said he was planning on digitizing a copy once he found the masters too.
